Rwanda – Mahembe
We are excited to welcome back another African favorite through our sourcing partners at Nordic Approach. This lot comes from Mahembe, a private washing station owned by Justin Musabyimana and now managed by his son, Willie.
In the local community, smallholder farmers bring their cherries to the Mahembe washing station for processing. Competition for cherry supply is intense, as farmers have the freedom to choose their preferred washing station. Justin’s ability to maintain a steady supply depends on his strong relationships with farmers and the competitive prices he offers. His deep-rooted connections within the community provide a solid foundation for these partnerships.
Rwanda’s coffee is renowned for its clean, bright, and fruity flavors, making it a strong contender in the African specialty coffee market. While Ethiopia and Kenya have long-established reputations, Rwanda’s commitment to quality production and its ideal growing conditions have positioned it as one of Africa’s rising stars in the coffee industry.
